We spent the first week of May staying in Whitianga and exploring the Coromadel Peninsula. Despite heavy rain warnings and flooding in parts of the peninsula, we enjoyed great weather and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Iris enjoyed the Driving Creek Railway, had a great time at Hot Water Beach and enjoyed playing in the sand at Lonely Bay, near Cooks Beach.
Lonely Bay, which we had completely to ourselves.
On the train at the Driving Creek Railway.
Still on the train...
Shakespeare's Cliff, overlooking Cooks Beach.
On a walk to check out big kauri trees.
